Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary

06-13-2021Letter from the PastorFr. Don Kline, V.F.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

During June, we celebrate not only the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11th, 2021 but we honor His Most Glorious Heart all month long. Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary during the octave of the Feast of Corpus Christi during the year 1675, during this apparition, he told her the following message:

“Behold this Heart which has loved men so much that it has spared itself nothing, even to exhausting and consuming itself, in order to testify its love. In return, I received from the greater part only ingratitude, by their irreverence and sacrilege, and the coldness and contempt they have for me in this Sacrament of Love.”… “For this reason I ask that the first Friday after the octave of the Feast of Corpus Christi be set aside as a special feast, to honor my Heart by communicating on that day, and making reparation for the indignity it has received. And I promise that my Heart will expand itself to pour out abundantly the influences of its love on all those who will give it this honor and get others to do the same.”

From Jesus to St. Margaret Mary

I encourage every family in the parish to enthrone your home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It could not be easier with the help of this website: welcomehisheart.com. The website is also a great way to learn more about the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Simply hanging the images of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in a prominent place in your home is a powerful way for your family to do what our parish family is doing: to proclaim Jesus as the King of your family and Mary as the Queen of your family. We read in the Book of Revelation: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, [then] I will enter his house and dine with him, and he with me.” (Rev. 3:20) Our Lord Jesus is knocking on the front door of every one of our homes just as he knocks on the door of our hearts. By enthroning your home to the Sacred Heart, you will be welcoming Him in a powerful way.

One of the simple goals of our Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is that our hearts will become more like His. I encourage families to pray the prayer to Sacred Heart as part of your dinner prayer or your evening family prayer. This prayer would also be a great addition to the end of your family rosary.

Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you and with a lively sorrow for my sins. I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to your will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, your blessings on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death. Amen.

The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus desires to spread His Kingdom of Love into our hearts, homes, cities, nation, and the entire world. This feast day is a wonderful opportunity for families to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus in their home in a special way by renewing their enthronement of the Sacred Heart and recommit to the covenant of love. The King of all Kings wishes to rule only through love.

Without love, we are empty vessels searching for our true identity and meaning. The Heart of Jesus is perfect, and He longs for us to turn our hearts away from sin and seek to be holy. There can only be true peace when we invite Jesus to solve our problems and guide us in our steps.
