Easter and God's Mercy

04-04-2021Letter from the PastorFr. Don Kline, V.F.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Happy Easter to you and a special welcome to you if you are visiting our wonderful parish family! It is hard to believe that it has been two years since we were able to celebrate Easter Sunday together. As we are able to come together as God’s family, I pray you may come to know the peace of God in your hearts now and always. Our Lord is our strength in good times and in bad.

Many people have come to know God’s love especially in difficult times. This year is no exception. Coming to Holy Mass to receive Our Lord in Holy Communion and giving thanks to God for His many blessings is good and pleasing to God. Holy Mass is where we encounter the living Christ truly present in His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in Holy Communion. It is at Holy Mass that we are best able to give thanks to God for His Son who has conquered sin and death and now enables us to share in the promise of eternal life!

Now we have begun the season of Easter! Last evening, at the Easter Vigil, the Church welcomed our newest Catholics. Thousands of men and women, young and old, throughout the world, stepped forward to be baptized and to be received into full communion in the Catholic Church. They received the Sacrament of Confirmation and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They received the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ for the first time! They formalized their commitment to Our Lord by "turning away from sin and being faithful to the Gospel" for the rest of their lives and hopefully for all eternity.

Everything we experience as Catholics at Easter proclaims to us the joy of our faith in the Risen Lord! Christ has conquered death on the cross by rising from the dead on this glorious day! Our personal deaths and those of our loved ones have been conquered, too, through our Baptismal commitment to Jesus.

May God's blessings overflow in your life this Easter! May your heart be filled with all the joys of the Risen Christ in our midst! May the fifty-day celebration of Easter deepen your relationship with Our Risen Lord!

I want to invite you to come next weekend to the great Divine Mercy devotion beginning at 2pm as we pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet with Our Lord present in the Blessed Sacrament. We will begin Mass at 3pm in the church. Please come and pray with us to close the octave of Easter!
