Campaign Update

03-15-2020Letter from the PastorFr. Don Kline, V.F.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I want to give you an update on our Charity and Development Appeal and the Together Let Us Go Forth Campaign.

First, the Charity and Development Appeal. Throughout our diocese, Catholics are being invited to participate in the holy work of transforming people's lives and people's circumstances through this Annual Diocesan Appeal. As of today, 84 generous donors have contributed for a total of nearly $ 45,428 towards our goal of $105,000.00.

If you are a long-time member of the parish, you know that we do this once a year. We have the opportunity to contribute to the ways in which our diocesan church is working generously to transform and transfigure the lives of our neighbors. Following the example of Jesus, we refuse to give up on people. Instead, we give, and in my experience over the years, many people have given generously.

This year, the money raised by the annual appeal will provide much needed assistance to transform the lives of people right here in our diocese. The appeal supports ministries, including women's health and pregnancy services, counseling, homeless, veterans, unemployed, eldercare, refugees, foster care, and victims of domestic violence and sex-trafficking. The appeal supports the education of future priests, helps to provide direct assistance to neighbors who cannot feed their families, as well as the weekly televised Mass.

Now you may recall that a few months ago, we participated in the Together Let Us Go Forth campaign. That effort, which was focused on building for the future, enabled you to make a pledge which you would pay off over five years. Thirty-five percent of the total collected contributions goes directly to our parish beautification project which includes purchasing bells, stained glass windows, painting the interior of the our church and the organ. Many of you were very generous to that campaign, and you are paying your pledges with great faithfulness. To date, 131 people have pledged a total of $806,120 towards our goal of $1,196,058.00

The Charity and Development (CDA) annual appeal is not the same thing as the Together Let Us Go Forth campaign. The CDA raises money that is needed right now so that we can minister to people immediately. So, I am asking you to prayerfully consider a pledge to this annual appeal today.

Many of you have already received a mailing from the diocese about the appeal. If you have already sent in your pledge, I thank you. If you have not had a chance to send in your pledge, or if you have not received a mailing, know there is still time to share the blessings God has given to you.

There are appeal envelopes located in the pews. You can also donate online at dphx.org/cda. I pray you may realize that, with every envelope that is filled out, and every gift that is given, there is a person somewhere in the Diocese of Phoenix whose life will be positively changed because of you. With every generous gift that is made today, someone in our diocese will have hope tomorrow. Your participation in the appeal will help to transform someone else's life for the better.

Your giving helps other people to hear the powerful message from Christ: Be not afraid! Thank you for your generosity!
