Youth Sacraments

Students who are in 6th – 12th Grade prepare to receive Sacraments through the Youth Ministry office.  The purpose is to introduce your child to Christ, help them to feel part of a community, and to better understand what they are receiving.

All Sacraments require the following:

  • A 3 Day Retreat
  • 2 Service Events
  • Sponsor Certification form.
  • Saint Letter
  • Baptism certificate for those already baptized
  • Completion of classes.

Eligibility:  You must be a registered parishioner for at least 6 months before you receive any Sacrament or you must obtain a letter of permission from your Pastor to prepare for the Sacraments and to receive them.

Baptism/Confirmation/ 1st Eucharist: (5th – 8th Grade)

2 year process in which students prepare by attending the Chosen Program by Accession Press.  In addition to class, they will partipcate  in the RCIA rites.

Classes: Wednesday 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Confirmation only:

Complete a full year of Religious Education before you begin sacrament preparation. (Within the past 2 years)

1 year Confirmation program:

Classes: Wednesday 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Religious Education includes:

  • Catholic School (St. John XXIII)
  • EDGE
  • Life Teen
  • Catechesis of the Good Shepard
  • If you are from outside the Diocese you can submit a letter form your previous parish stating that you have completed one year of religious education within the past 2 years.

Confirmation only Classes for those in Catholic School.

  •  Monday beginning January 2017.
  • 7:00pm – 8:15pm
  • There are only 6 classes.

RCIA candidates (Those not Catholic) are baptized or received into the church on the Easter Vigil.

Those who are receiving 1st Communion and/or Confirmation will take place in May  2017
