The Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist are normally celebrated during a child’s third grade year. Candidates should have been enrolled in the Faith Formation program beginning in first grade, or at least one year prior and have received the sacrament of Reconciliation. St. Bernadette Parish offers Religious Education (RE) programs for children of our parish families to prepare them for these sacraments. Our program supports the sacramental preparation process for First Eucharist, Confirmation and Reconciliation. Parents must be registered members of St. Bernadette and have completed all paperwork required of the Faith Formation department.
Children in the third grade or older, having participated in Religious Education (RE) classes the previous year and received First Reconciliation, are invited into the Confirmation / First Eucharist preparation process. We have returned to the Restored Order for Sacraments of Initiation so Confirmation and First Eucharist will be celebrated at one Mass. All children participating in Confirmation Preparation must have received First Eucharist and be enrolled and participating in age appropriate Religious Education classes or Catholic School.
Any middle school youth or high school teen who wishes to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation may do so through the EDGE or LifeTeen programs. Requirements include attending all scheduled sessions, participating in a weekend retreat, and completion of 10 community service hours. Confirmation preparation will begin with a parent meeting in January. Contact Jeremy Stafford, Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministries.
Any adult ages 19+ are invited to participate in a special formation series to prepare them to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. If you are an adult who desires to be Confirmed, please contact Deacon Bob Torigian at 480-905-0221 ext. 206 for an initial interview.
